Get a Head Start on Your Studies with RPL and Credit Transfers

Discover how Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer (CT) can help you fast-track your qualification by acknowledging the valuable skills and knowledge you've already gained. We're here to help you get the recognition you deserve and move forward in your career.

What is Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a comprehensive assessment process that acknowledges the skills and knowledge you've gained through:

  • Formal training - Completed courses, qualifications, and structured programmes
  • Work experience - On-the-job learning and industry practice
  • Life experience - Volunteer work, self-directed learning, and informal training

Important: Our RPL process maintains the same rigour and integrity as our standard assessment system, ensuring you receive recognition that truly reflects your competency while meeting industry and regulatory standards.

Benefits of RPL

  • Reduce study time and costs
  • Fast-track your qualification
  • Gain formal recognition for your skills
  • Advance your career prospects
  • Build on existing knowledge

Who Can Apply?

  • Industry professionals with relevant experience
  • Workers seeking formal qualifications
  • Career changers with transferable skills
  • Anyone with demonstrable competencies

What Evidence Do You Need for RPL?

To support your RPL application, you can provide a variety of documentation. The evidence must demonstrate that your skills and knowledge are current, relevant, and meet the requirements of the units you're seeking recognition for.

Acceptable Evidence Includes:

  • Records of completed training - Certificates, transcripts, course outlines
  • Assessment items and records - Previous assessment results and portfolios
  • Workplace documentation - Job descriptions, performance reviews, work samples
  • Employer declarations - References and testimonials on company letterhead
  • Testamurs - Official certificates, transcripts and statements of attainment
  • Professional memberships - Industry association certificates
  • Licences and certifications - Industry-specific credentials
  • Portfolio of work - Examples demonstrating your competency

Industry Currency Requirement: For your evidence to be considered current, you must demonstrate that you have worked in the relevant industry within the last 2-3 years. All evidence must be authentic and verifiable.

What is a Credit Transfer?

Queensford College accepts and provides credit to learners for units of competency and/or modules (unless licensing or regulatory requirements prevent recognition) where you have:

  • AQF certification documentation issued by any other RTO or AQF authorised issuing organisation
  • Authenticated VET transcripts issued by the Registrar

Authentication Process: We verify all qualifications and transcripts directly through official channels, including the USI transcript service and direct contact with issuing organisations to ensure authenticity.

If you believe you have successfully completed units of competency previously, please contact us to discuss your options for Credit Transfer.

Important: Credit transfer decisions are based on equivalency of units. Where units are not deemed equivalent, we'll provide alternative pathways such as RPL or gap training options.
