This comprehensive unit covers the skills and knowledge required to provide a broad first aid response across a wide range of emergency scenarios. You will learn to assess a casualty, manage common injuries and illnesses, and provide life support in line with Australian first aid guidelines.
Who Should Take It: Anyone required to provide a general first aid response in any setting, including workplaces, sporting clubs, community venues, and the general public.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies.
The unit applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Students are required to complete theory online before attending a practical training day on campus.
Class sizes are kept small to ensure students have adequate working space and undivided attention from our industry qualified Trainers.
Along with the knowledge of how to manage unconscious persons, students are also taught how to confidently conduct a visual and verbal assessment of the casualty, how to complete safe manual handling techniques and how to provide an accurate report of the incident.
During this short course students will actively work through a theory workbook before using first aid equipment to demonstrate their practical knowledge.
This qualification to be suitable for students who have interest to learn how to provide first aid.
There are no formal entry requirements.
All students must undertake Queensford College’s Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital (LLND) skills assessment via online LLN Robot System.
Students are required to complete the online component of this course before attending the related workshop.
Students must be able to:
1. Kneel and perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) (5 cycles of both compressions and ventilations) on an adult manikin placed on the floor
2. Perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR (5 cycles both compressions and ventilations) on an infant manikin placed on a firm surface
