Queensford College will support you to find work placement to ensure you obtain the required industry skills and experience.

CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support course includes 120 hours of professional vocational placement to be completed.

Students are offered vocational placement after completing the first required units to allow students to gain a high standard of knowledge that contributes to their individual skill set, as well as prepare the student to work within aged care environments.

Students must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they commence their vocational placement.

You will be required to undertake mandatory work placement of 120 hours at an accredited aged care or nursing facility. To be eligible for work placement you must be able to obtain:

  • National Criminal Police Check
  • Immunisation records/evidence (Flu Vaccines are required in all Accredited Residential Care Facilities, if you are not vaccinated the facility may not accept you)
  • Be fit and able to carry out tasks including manual handling and provision of care.
  • Have the ability to undertake a mandatory 120 hours of ‘practical placement’ (depends on the courses) in an accredited aged care or nursing facility.

While working in aged care can be incredibly rewarding, due to the nature of the work, students may encounter sensitive and challenging experiences such as supporting individuals with chronic illnesses or age-related conditions, addressing grief and loss, providing palliative care, and coping with the passing of those in their care.

Additionally, both vocational placement and employment in the aged care sector can be physically demanding. Students will need to perform tasks such as manual handling, operating medical and assistive equipment, and lifting or transferring patients.

It is important for prospective students to carefully consider these factors when deciding if this course is right for them.
