Clinical Placement for Nursing
Clinical Placement for Nursing is fully facilitated by Queensford College, as part of course delivery. Where the college will assist students to locate and secure placement arrangements and provide all required documentation.
Students will need to take note that placement facilities may be located in the same city or in rural areas. However, any costs associated with transportation, accommodation, food and beverage for/or during placement shall be borne by the student.
HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing course includes 400 hours of clinical placement that will be managed by Queensford College to assist the student to complete.
Students are to complete 400 hours (10 weeks) of placement.
Clinical Placement for Nursing Prerequisites
Completion of learning and theoretical assessments must be satisfactorily achieved. In instances where the UoC allows for practical skills to be demonstrated in a simulated environment, these may not be required to be assessed during Clinical Placement for Nursing.

Students must ensure they are fully prepared for placement assessments by maintaining their health and well-being to support consistent attendance and active participation.

Health Considerations
Students should assess whether they have any physical or mental impairments, disorders, disabilities, or conditions that may impact their ability to demonstrate the required knowledge and skills in a professional setting. This includes impairments resulting from substance dependence or abuse. Any medical treatment must not hinder a student’s ability to engage in placement assessments professionally and with emotional maturity.
Students with sensory deficits or unmanaged medical conditions that could compromise safe practice and assessment outcomes must contact their vocational placement team to discuss their options regarding assessment and/or enrollment. While reasonable adjustments may be available in certain circumstances, assessment integrity and evidence requirements cannot be altered. Additionally, industry partners may have limited flexibility in accommodating specific needs.
Medical Clearance Requirements
If a student’s placement assessment is interrupted due to serious health concerns or chronic illness, they may be required to provide medical clearance before resuming their assessment.

Language Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
In accordance with Clause 1.7 of the Standards for RTOs 2015, Queensford College uses a range of mechanisms to identify any support individual students need prior to the enrolment or commencement (whichever is the earliest) and provide access to the required support throughout their training. One of the mechanisms used is the assessment of LLN skills and provision of support. Queensford College uses the LLN Robot as an LLN diagnostic tool to identify the suitability any support requirements.
Students will be required to undertake the LLN assessment at the College under supervision. Based on the results of the LLN assessment, support strategies will be identified and implemented to maximise the student’s chance of successful completion.
Queensford College does not recommend acceptance with very low scores. Queensford College recommends accepting students with one point below the required score as indicated on this ACSF Course profile.

The nursing program will include attendance of on-campus classroom lectures, simulated workshops in the skills laboratory (clinical training facility), self-directed study, and clinical placements. Students will also need to have a basic understanding and knowledge of how to use a computer device, as academic learning materials will be accessible via the learning portal for self-directed study.
Students will need to commit to full-time study over four consecutive terms for 78 weeks to achieve this qualification. Terms will include orientation (first term only), professional experience placement, mid-term break, a study or assessment recess, exam or assessment time and an end of term break.
