Course Description

This general first aid program develops your team’s capability to respond to a broad range of workplace and community emergencies. Staff learn how to assess casualties, manage common injuries and illnesses, and provide life support in line with current ARC-aligned first aid guidelines.

Suitable for employees across all industries, this course supports WHS obligations, strengthens emergency preparedness, and helps reduce organisational risk.

Compliance – National Law Section 162A

Queensland’s protocol requires nominated supervisors, persons in day-to-day charge, and family day care coordinators to complete an approved child protection unit. Accepted units include CHCPRT025 (current), CHCPRT001, CHCPRT026, CHCPRT002 (superseded), or CHCECE057. Training must be delivered by an RTO.

Learning Outcomes

Staff will learn to:

Recognise and respond to common workplace and community first aid emergencies
Provide basic life support, including CPR, in line with ARC guidelines
Manage bleeding, shock, burns, fractures, and other common injuries
Support casualties experiencing medical conditions such as asthma, anaphylaxis, seizures, or cardiac events
Complete incident reporting and follow organisational emergency procedures

Entry Requirements

No formal academic entry requirements
Suitable for staff who wish to learn how to provide first aid
All participants must complete Queensford’s LLND skills assessment and online theory component before attending the workshop
Physical capacity to perform continuous CPR on adult and infant manikins for at least 2 minutes (as per ARC requirements)
